The Visual Arts department at Kilmer Middle School offers several outlets for students to problem-solve, fine-tune, learn new skills, express themselves, get messy, and create. Classes are designed with three areas in mind: process, product, and understanding. Students will accomplish this with the development of technical skills, problem-solving, the context of the art we create, and reflection of why we make art. Courses here at Kilmer are semester courses so students will have the opportunity to take more than one course and explore several mediums.
Art Club meets after school on Wednesdays during the first block, We currently have an open enrollment which means students can attend any club meeting even if they missed the first meeting. Generally, Art Club gives students open studio time to work on projects for class or on personal portfolio projects. Students will be given the opportunity work on any projects that are happening at the school, such as:
- Mural painting
- Scene painting (collaboration with Drama department)
- Signs and posters for events
- Hanging artwork
- Prep work for upcoming shows.
Look for our student work in these shows and events - with more to come! Check back often!
