On Friday, April 26, thirteen Kilmer Orchestra students participated in the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association - District XII - Solo and Ensemble Festival. For the festival, students must learn a solo or small ensemble piece, beyond what is performed in their orchestra class, and perform it for a judge. Judges for the festival include university faculty, professional performers, and music teachers from all across the Northern Virginia area. The judge rates each student’s performance on a scale of I (Superior) to V (Poor). This annual event gives students who enjoy challenging themselves a great opportunity for professional-level feedback.

Kilmer Orchestra students performed beautifully and were awarded 10 Superior ratings and 2 Excellent ratings for their solos and duets! We are so proud of each of our performers and the hard work they put into polishing their performances. Congratulations!
